CCF Annual Inspection
The Dover Grammar Schools Combined Cadet Force Annual Inspection was held on Friday 21st June with Colonel Paul Morris of the Royal Marines inspecting the cadets. Colonel Morris was a Cadet at DGSB in the 1980s and was delighted to return and visit the CCF and DGSB.
150 guests, consisting of families, military representatives, local dignitaries, representatives from the Royal British Legion and ex-cadets were present to watch the short parade followed by an inter-section competition.
At the end of the evening the following prizes were awarded:
The Wing Commander Ian Philpott Memorial Cup, awarded to the best cadet in the RAF Section - Cadet Emma Wardhaugh.
The Royal Engineer Sapper, awarded to the best cadet in the Army Section - Cadet William Moody.
The Ravensdale Cup, awarded to the most efficient cadet in the Contingent – Cadet Joel Smith.
The Squadron Leader Anthony Downing Memorial Cup, awarded to the best Non-Commissioned Officer for Outstanding Leadership – Flight Sergeant Simon Goodden.
The Barlow Challenge Cup – Awarded to the winners of the Inter-Section competition, Army Section 2 under Sergeant Tom Harley.
