6th From Partake in a Road Safety Event.
The Sixth Form Team at Dover Grammar School for Boys took our Year 12 students to the Road Safety Experience at Rochester Fire Station.
The Road Safety Experience is the first purpose-built, interactive centre of its kind in the UK. It uses powerful stories, exciting interactive experiences and information from experienced road safety experts. The aim is to encourage young people to look at the potential consequences of a road accident from all perspectives – for themselves, their passengers, other drivers and their families.
The Road Safety Experience aims to help young people learn from the experience of others, improve their safety and give them the skills they need to make better informed decisions in all driver and passenger situations.
Our students witnessed a realistic demonstration of the aftermath of a road traffic accident with the Fire Service, Police and First Responders in attendance. They also had a chance to be involved in a crime scene investigation, piecing together crucial information to determine what had happened in a collision between vehicles, and they participated in a range of interactive activities, including learning CPR.
The students were a credit to DGSB and we will arrange a return trip in the next academic year.
