Spring Concert
On Thursday 24 March an audience of over 150 gathered to hear the DGSB Spring Concert in the Great Hall of the School. More than 50 boys took part and we were delighted to be joined by a dozen girls from DGGS as part of the joint band. Repertoire ranged from sixteenth century choral music to Bach and the Beatles and beyond and the instrumental range was broad too with everything from brass, strings and organ to guitars, voice and sandpaper!
Some boys were making their performance debut and others were experienced performers but all were of a high standard. There were some particular highlights and all in attendance will have had their favourites. A real mix of popular and less known repertoire meant that there was truly something for everyone.
The choir gave us a glimpse of what they are to offer at York Minster and St Alban's Abbey during the Easter vacation and the Band showed just what is possible with limited rehearsal time.
The pupils who took part would like me to express their gratitude to those staff who supported the event on the night and in the many preparations beforehand. Particular thanks must also be expressed to Mr Shaw and Mr Spanner for their hard work with our promising young musicians.
